I took a vacation to Ohio, to a campground that I spent many summers at when I was a kid. It's always been one of my most favorite places that I've been to, and I had a really nice time there. The campground is really beautiful and calm. Lots of trees, wildlife, hiking trails, and a nice river that runs through the park.

I went with my mom and my boyfriend, and during our stay at the campground we visited with some friends and family as well. During our time there, we waded in the river, floated on inner tubes down the river, did some canoeing, hiked a few trails, played some games, read books, and (my favorite thing to do...) hunted for crayfish. ^^
For those of you who don't know, crayfish are little lobster-looking things that are found in freshwater. They're usually a brown-ish color, and although some people eat them, I like to just hunt them and then let them go.

The ones I've found in that river vary in size from about a centimeter long to being a little longer than my hand. The small ones you can let crawl around in your hand, but the bigger ones hurt if you get pinched. My mom also found a couple salamanders during a hike, and I caught some minnows in the river as well.

The raccoons around the park were crazy. A couple times we cooked dinner over the campfire, and if we didn't finish with the food before it got dark, the raccoons would come out and start getting pretty aggressive about trying to steal our food. The one night, my mate had to fend off about five raccoons at once while we finished making our food, because they just wouldn't go away no matter how hard we tried to scare them off.

All in all it was a lot of fun. Being from Ohio originally, I miss being farther north sometimes. I love the northern trees, and the weather was perfect. It did rain one day during the trip, but that wasn't so bad. I don't get to go back to Ohio very often, but it's always nice when I do.
