Earlier tonight I visited my college for the annual premiere of the short films created by the animation program that I graduated from. I've gone the previous two years as well; the movie I worked on had premiered last year. I went again this year because I wanted to see what kind of work this year's batch of students produced, and I have to say the films were pretty good. Not super fantastic, but each year they get better. It was also great getting to see some of my friends, classmates, and professors from school who went as well.
But the most notable point of the evening was when I was viewing one of the two short films, and the credits rolled around. When the credits for the soundtrack came up, I quickly noticed - holy shit, Fox Amoore did the music for this film.
If you spend any decent amount of time on FurAffinity, you probably know who he is. If you don't, you should be ashamed of yourself! He's pretty much the one most famous furry composer on the whole site. (And maybe part of this is a little bit of fangirling because I actually do really like his music and think he's very talented, but nonetheless...)
Being in an artistic field, there are naturally a few furries who have gone through the animation program at my college (myself included, obviously). Almost all of them are not noticeable as furries though unless you know them very well. Even then, from the students I've met over the last few years, I could probably count all the furries on one hand. I knew a good portion of people from the class that made the film, and I don't think any of them were furries. So I have absolutely no clue how they found Fox Amoore, or how they got him to do the music, but it was a pretty big "this world is really freaking small sometimes" moment for me.
AND IN OTHER NEWS.
I have, for the first time, been offered a job interview in response to one of my applications at a job as an artist. I'm pretty freaking excited and pretty freaking nervous, but I'll do my best. We'll see how it goes. If it goes well, I may be packing up and heading out to California - a process which includes thoughts for another journal at another time.
