Frequently Asked Questions

About me as an artist

Did you go to art school? [Show][Hide]

Yes. I went to the University of Central Florida, and graduated with a degree in animation. I studied both 2D and 3D animation, and took several art classes along the way. Life drawing and design classes were a part of that.

Who or what is the inspiration for your art? [Show][Hide]

Many things around me inspire me. My friends, the world, my pets, other artists, video games, movies, TV shows, stories. Music is a very big inspiration for me; I almost always have to be listening to something while I draw. Many of the artists I watch on art sites inspire me. When I see artists I admire, I strive to draw at the same level of quality they do. Rembrandt and Van Gogh are my favorite historical artists. I love Sandy Skoglund's installation art, and I find Alexa Meade's work very interesting as well.

Do you post all of the same stuff on all your online galleries? [Show][Hide]

Nope. Most of it will be the same, but not all.

I use FurAffinity for posting all of my furry art. It also usually holds more scraps and doodles than the others, and it's usually the first place where I update with new works. It's the account I'm most active on, so if you only watch one, I'd recommend FA.

I use DeviantArt for posting both furry and non-furry art. My human drawings and more random miscellaneous projects are only found there. I don't usually upload scraps or quick, silly drawings to it though.

I use SoFurry for furry art only, but sometimes I neglect keeping it updated with current works.

Currently, I use Weasyl for furry art only, and I'm still in the process of setting up my gallery there. If I like the site, I may end up using it similarly to FA, but for now it only holds a selection of my best works.

Do you take free requests? [Show][Hide]

Once in a while. When I am, there will always be some kind of limitation to the offer (such as a limited time offer, limited number, or you might have to do something to get one). I also take requests via Livestream sometimes. I'll either do a stream dedicated to requests, or I might take requests when I finish working on something. If I am looking for requests, I'll say so.

I do love giving free art, so if you watch me long enough, chances are you'll have an opportunity at some point. Most offers for free art happen on FurAffinity, since my fan base is larger there. Just wait until I offer it! I don't appreciate people approaching me for freebies otherwise.

At the time I'm writing this, I currently have an exclusive offer on FurAffinity for requests. Just read the rules.

Do you do art trades? [Show][Hide]

Sometimes. You can ask. I like doing art trades, but I dislike an unfair trade of art quality or being let down if the other person doesn't hold up their end of the deal.

What are your commission prices? [Show][Hide]

Commission prices are listed on this page.

Do you do collaborations? [Show][Hide]

I love to! I love coloring/shading and getting the chance to work with other artists. Just keep in mind - that doesn't mean I'll color any line art or sketches you give me for free or anything. If you're an artist looking for someone to color your art as a collaboration commission, feel free to ask me about it!

Do you create 3D models, animations, scenes, etc.? [Show][Hide]

I do. I know how to. However, since I've only just started getting into the field, I don't have a lot of examples to show at the moment. Particularly nothing furry-related.

Do you take animation or 3D commissions? [Show][Hide]

Not right now, no. I will do simple animations, like blinking eyes, for icon commissions, but that's about it. I need time to build up my portfolio with my own projects before I start taking commissions for anyone else. I might eventually. Complex animations or 3D projects would be much more expensive than my regular art though, considering the amount of time and work involved.

About my art

What programs/tools/etc. do you use? [Show][Hide]

For drawing digitally, I use a Wacom Intuos4 Medium tablet and Photoshop CS5.

How do you draw [this or that]? Can you help me with my drawing? [Show][Hide]

First, know that everything I've drawn has come from years and years of practice. My drawings were hideous once and sometimes still are. Practice is the only surefire way to improve your own art. Draw every day!

That being said, if there's something I do that you're really curious about, ask! Once in a while I make tutorials about it, or if you catch me on Livestream, I'd be happy to show you.

You can find a list of my tutorials here.

I don't mind giving critiques on a drawing if you ask nicely. Just don't be offended if I say there's something wrong. I'm not mean about it, but I will be honest if you ask me to be. And if I don't respond when you ask for further critique, that means I'm busy or have nothing more to say. Please don't harass me about it. :)

Do you draw humans, or just animals and furry/anthro characters? [Show][Hide]

I am capable of drawing humans, yes, but I prefer not to. Animals are more inspiring and creative to me, so generally the only time I draw humans is when I have the occasional inspiration to do so. I prefer not to take commissions for human drawings. It would end up being forced and looking bad.

What is "Cagon Antics"? [Show][Hide]

"Cagon Antics" is my randomly-updated webcomic of sorts. It's mostly about my fursona, Zephyr, doing silly things. "Cagon Antics" is only posted on FurAffinity. You can find the archive here.

Streaming

What is Livestream/streaming? [Show][Hide]

Livestream is a video streaming service that allows me to show you a live video of my desktop screen. That means you can watch me draw something, even from start to finish! There's also a chat box, so you can talk with me and the other viewers, as well as ask me any questions.

Do you ever stream your work? How often? [Show][Hide]

Yep! When I have the time, I'll usually spend several hours on Livestream. How often I stream can be completely random though, since Livestream can sometimes be a pain to work with. I might stream a few days in a row, or I might go several weeks without streaming at all.

I always advertise when I'm streaming via my FA journals and/or on The Furry Forums.

What do you usually do during a Livestream session? [Show][Hide]

It varies. I sometimes work on commissions, personal art, silly doodles, and/or once in a while I'll take requests on there. Mostly - whatever I feel like working on! Whatever I'm working on, I'll be chatting with viewers throughout the session.

Are there any rules for chatting in the stream? [Show][Hide]

Yes! Though most of the time it isn't anything to be concerned about, there are things that I prefer be kept out of the stream chat. You can find the list of rules here.

Permissions and characters

Can I upload this image to my own personal art gallery? [Show][Hide]

If the artwork was made for you or has one of your characters in it, by all means, yes! Just credit me for the art and link back to me in some way, please.

If the image was not made for you, I really would prefer you just favorite it instead. But if for some reason that isn't possible and you need to share it in your own gallery or something somewhere, please just remember to credit me.

Further details about what you can or can't do with your commission are listed at the bottom of the Ordering a Commission page.

Can I edit/color this image to look like my own fursona/character? [Show][Hide]

Unless I make line art specifically for this purpose and state that it's free to use - no.

Can I use the character in this drawing? (For RP, art, fursuits, etc.) [Show][Hide]

If you didn't create it yourself and don't have explicit permission to use it - no. I do sometimes create random characters in my drawings, however. If there's one you're interested in and there's no indication that it belongs to anyone, message me and we can talk about character adoption options. But ask - don't just steal.

Many of the characters I draw belong to my commissioners, and my own characters belong to me.

If you want to use my characters for gift art meant for me though, that's perfectly fine!
